Traditional Hebrew and Niggunim
Temple of Song is an opportunity for a community to experience the uplifting and inspiring power of music through singing together. Song is a reflection of self, of life, of culture. The Jewish tradition is rich in its melodic offerings, from the playful to the soulful; it positions music as a central form of cultural expression and connection. Yet, many of us have little opportunity to learn and sing the songs of this rich, age-old tradition. Allowing them to fade from our psyches we have neglected the purest and most expressive form of human sharing. Temple of Song re-positions song as a means of expression, as a vehicle for creation, and as the soul of our community. Weaving prayers, original texts and compositions with more heartfelt and upbeat arrangements, together we will rediscover one of the most unique and profound of human faculties the voice. While many of the songs will be familiar, it is not necessary to know them or understand Hebrew. The transliterated text will be provided so that everyone is able to participate. Join acclaimed vocalists and instrumentalists Amir Paiss, Avishai Barnatan & Shai Shriki as they offer some of the most poignant and moving traditional Hebrew songs and nigunim of all time. Playing in Middle-Eastern and Klezmer bands across the globe, including the internationally renowned Israeli band Sheva, their beautiful, haunting renditions of sacred songs will stir your heart and feed your soul.
