Simon Shaw is an Israeli singer-songwriter guitar player, born in 1984 in Sydney Australia. His family moved to Israel when he was two years old, he first started playing cello at the age of five and picked up the guitar at age 14. After finishing his studies at the Rubin Academy where he received a bachelor of music he moved to Hollywood to pursue music. After a year of living in Los Angeles Simon returned to Israel and started working in the local music scene. Simon released his debut record in February 2013. It was received well by critics and music fans and shortly after its release the song “Rak Ahava” was played on many radio stations in Israel. The album is named ‘Jerusalem Hollywood’ because the songs on the album describe Simon’s journey growing up in Jerusalem and moving to Hollywood, to be a full time musician. Musically the album is deeply rooted in blues and rock’n roll which Simon states as his main influences, but also combines elements of jazz, ethnic music, pop, country and fusion, creating an interesting blend and new sound.
